An ever competitive game with Gt. Harwood again lived up to the usual billing. A tough yet equally battling game from both sides saw a very even game. Although I think the intensity got the better of some of the spectators! Most of the better football I am happy to say was played by the blue & maroons.

The second game saw us pitted again with Rossendale and the game was more even than the eventual score suggested, another good team effort from Langho.

Player of the week (Calum, excellent in goal in the first game and put a great shift in on the left in the second)

Patience was the key in today’s fixture as Langho had the better of the game throughout. It was all about making the most of the possession and having the cutting edge to take the lead. Rishton defended well and looked organised with a solid defence to build on as Langho took the game to the visitors. Plenty of crosses and dangerous corners were played into the Rishton box but without the vital touch to convert the opportunities.

In the second half Langho piled on the pressure and eventually Kian pounced on a ball played into the box and finished smartly. Langho had chances to add to the lead but in the end settled for the three points well earned.

Man of the match: Kian, looked dangerous and was involved in most of the attempts at goal.

Squad: Mark Harrop, Cameron Waddington, Ben Keijzer, Daniel Tomlinson, Michael Rea, Freddie Coburn, Morgan Livesey (1), Cameron Henderson (2), Max Harris, William Ellison

The Maroons got a well earned victory against their neigbours this morning with a professional performance from front to back. The first half was a cagey encounter with Wilpshire probably having the better of the attacking play but the Maroons stood strong and resalute and always looking dangerous on the counter-attack.

It wasn’t until the second half that the young Langho team took the initiative pushing Wilpshire further and further back with a barrage of crosses and corners. It wasn’t long before the deadlock was broken as the ball fell to Cameron Henderson who swept the ball home after a good ball in from the corner. This seemed to dent the away team’s hopes as Langho pushed on for more, chances were missed when it seemed easier to score. Then eventually Cameron broke on his left had side to slot a fine shot into the corner to make it a double personally and for his side.

Wilpshire started to take a few more chances and brought a great save out of Mark in goal, they pushed players forward which only seemed to suit Langho with fast players on the break and it was no surprise to see Morgan racing through to slot home the third with a composed finish past the onrushing Wilpshire stopper.

The last few minutes so the Langho defence switching off as Wilpshire got a consolation goal and missed a couple of half chances but Langho held on for a deserved win.

Quality performances thoughout the team with Mark, Ben, William and Cameron solid at the back, Cameron had a great attacking game giving us that quality needed on both flanks as Freddie pushed on the right. Michael was at the heat of all the set peices and tackles through the middle, Max and Daniel did a great job at tracking their markers nulifying the Wilpshire wingers and Morgan was his lively-self furthest forward.

Man of the Match: Cameron Henderson (Two quality finished and worked hard getting back helping the defence also.)

Today’s squad: Chris, Kian, Joe, Kyle, Lewis, Jacob, Oliver & Calum

Langho started the Crown game strong with strong attacks in the wide areas and took the game to the opposition. The young Langho lions look to have added a little steal to their tackles and look more powerful than at the start of the campaign, however at times forget the finesse and positional awareness from the start of the season. Crown ended the game stronger as Langho failed to clear their lines in the final third.
In the second game it was a tail of the big number 10′s who took it in turn to batter their way through. Again Langho worked hard and looked dangerous going forward. Hard to pick out any man of the match this week as all worked hard and showed bits of quality.

Man of the Match: Kyle (powerful in attack worked much harder at defence and a great long range goal effort)

A fantastically entertaining game by both sides, chances a plenty and honours even at the end. Langho started brightly and soon created good chances from the wide areas with the Eagles goal living a charmed life. However as Langho failed to make the most of early pressure Eagles came back into the game and looked dangerous on the break. With hesitation in the defensive areas Eagles pounced to take the lead which they held at the break.
After the change around Langho came out of the traps hard and fast and looked dangerous from the off. The longer the half went on Eagles got deeper and deeper and more desperate but time was running out and it looked like a day of missed chances. But with just a couple of minutes on the clock Freddie struck a firm shot from the edge of the box into the top corner to send the home team into a frenzy! Eagles looked deflated but both sides seemed happy to take the point in the end.

Man of the Match: Ben (tireless performance especially in the second half a real grit and determination).

A quality display from the maroons today with a strong attacking display from Morgan, Freddie, Kian, Oliver & Shez, and great defensive effort from Michael, Ben and Cameron. We started strong with an early goal From Oliver after find work from Kian and Morgan. Michael was bright throughout and dictated the passing from the back with cutting balls into dangerous areas. Shez was lively on the left and we soon took control of the game with a delicate finish from Morgan after strong play in the heart of the midfield. With a few chances missed the game could have been out of sight before half time after missed chances. Kian won a deserved goal before half time with a stroke from distance. In the second half it was more Evan as we pushed on a little too hard for more goals but dispute a goal back to make it was to no avail as Mirgan got a 2nd to kill off the tie with a cutting through ball.

Man of the match; Michael for a solid game and wonderful distribution.

Today’s game was a real battle with extra bodies on the pitch but everyone worked really hard in every position. With little bits of composure here and there I thought Langho had the better of things. Great goalkeeping performances by Oliver and Chris made us look very solid at the back. Lewis, James, Kian, Lewis & Oliver looked strong and good in the tackle with Joe showing glimpses of skill and power in the middle. Rex, Chris and Kian did a great job on the wings giving the side good width and an excellent game up front for Kyle and Sanya both getting good shots in. The side now look like they can also win a battle as well as a football match and that is a good sign.

Man of the match: Oliver (asked to play in three positions and looked solid in every one)

Langho and Rossendale square up again at the soccerdome and I think the players are now on first name terms! Some excellent hard work and glimpses of skill all round.

In game two the players looked hungry from the start and determined to take the game to the opposition. The kids started brightly and were unlucky not to break the deadlock early on with every shot seeming to fall straight to the Fulledge keeper. Sanya stood steady in the Langho goal and watched as the team in front of her drove at the opposition. Bright skills from Joe, Oliver and Chris created plenty of chances and Kyle looked strong in imposed himself on the game. James took his turn in a more attacking role and got his reward for his hard work with a great first goal for his side. I think that got the biggest cheer of the day. Rex looked lively and showed his skills taking on the Colts great confidence. The kids came off delighted with their efforts, and the watching crowd seemed to enjoy the action too! Well done all the boys and girls.

Man of the Match: James (great to see James enjoy a more attacking role and delighted to see his wonderful goal).
