Cath Grime

It was with great sadness that we heard that Cath Grime had passed away yesterday morning.
Cath was a lovely vivacious young lady who in recent years had fought her cancer courageously, with great dignity and an ever present smile on her face.
Cath has played a significant role in the development of Langho FC always ready to offer assistance particularly in promoting a number of successful Valentines and Charity Balls and supporting Mel in running a junior team and of course her much loved son’s Michael and Matt from the touchline.
One of the many abiding memories I have of Cath is of her slaving over a barbecue all weekend at our annual mini soccer tournament as the temperatures soared towards 30 deg, I wasn’t sure what was more cooked, Cath or the sausages!
Cath will be sadly missed by all her friends at Langho FC.
Our thoughts are with Mel, Michael and Matt at this time of great sadness.
Cath’s funeral will take place next Thursday at Salesbury church at 12.15.

Cuticles, C-Cups and Cup Cakes – Ladies Night 2012

Langho FC hosted its annual Ladies Night in June with over 50 ladies attending the event.  Sarah Crew of the Lingere Boutique in Whalley presented a fashion show featuring a range of shapewear, swimwear, nightwear and lingerie.  A massive thank you to the four models, a professional and polished performance by  ‘normal’ women.  Anne-Marie and Claire from La Femme offered nail file and polish, collecting donations and raised £60 for the club.  They also displayed a range of products  including Thalgo body treatments used in the Polynesia  Spa Ritual.  Nicky and colleagues from Seasons, Clitheroe created a colourful and vibrant  stall with a large range of  jewellery, bags, scarves, tops and maxi dresses.  I saw lots of the distinctive black and gold bags leave the clubhouse at the end of the night!  Bronwen of Fresh from Home created a display of  celebration cake designs as well as having cup cakes decorated with delicate and pretty sugar paste flowers.  Each one of these businesses donated raffle prizes, in addition Pendle Leisure Trust donated 15 gift vouchers.  All those in attendance received a vouchers for money off purchases at the Lingerie Boutique and treatments at La Femme.
Vince and Fay ran the bar, Vince provide a brilliant range of canapés, many people commented on how good they were and wanted to know were they came from – Vince would not reveal his source!
A really successful night raising over £400 for club funds, well done ladies same again next year!

Langho FC Golf Day 16/9/11

17 teams contested our annual golf day at Wilpshire Golf Club. After the storms earlier in the week a dry all be it grey day greeted competitors for the 1pm shotgun start to play a team scramble format. All afternoon the brisk wind made playing conditions difficult but at least kept the rain over Preston and down the Ribble Valley, that was at least until 4pm when a deluge soon had the greens flooding. Fortunately there were only 4 holes left to play and all but 2 teams completed their rounds.
The victorious team was led by Tom Finn, 2 teams tied for second place and after a count back the ‘chairmans team’ were declared runners up with a team sponsored by Magdalene House finishing in third place.
Our thanks to all who took part, Wilpshire GC for hosting the event especially the green keeping staff for presenting the course in excellent condition following one of the wettest summers and the bar and catering staff who provided an excellent meal and service.

Whilst the final sum hasn’t been established it is hoped the event has raised approximately £1,000 for the furtherment of football at Langho FC and Langho Juniors FC.
