 Before i start on the match report i must say a big thank you for sponsorship from not one,  but two of the worlds motoring giants. Dale Bland and Blackburn Audi have again paid for a new strip for the team. And after an end of season BBQ  and a few Peroni’s,  Rob Calver from Alfa Romeo was more than happy to kit the lads and coaching team out in new tracksuits also provide  Balls, bibs and training equipment. We now have sponsors that  Real Madrid can only dream of. Thank You very much gents from all at Langho under 9′s Blue. We may or may not win the league but we will be the best kitted out in the country.

Now the game. With the newly installed third member of the coaching team away on a Geordie stag do (Phil ”the milk” Simpson- chief scout/kit man/ball pumper)  it was down to the rest of us to setup the pitch.The game nearly didn’t take  place at all,  the cabin door with all the goals etc was jammed solid and wouldn’t budge.(despite  mine and the directors  feeble attempts to open it up). Only the intervention of Paul  Stephenson with a wheel brace managed to  prize the thing open to much relief. Game on.

The boys have some how never managed to win the opening fixture in the last 2 seasons so this came as a welcome boost. The first half was a scrappy affair with neither team showing what they are capable of. 1-0 down at half time , to a  poor goal prompted a  team talk along the lines of, start passing the ball or Dan and Arthur are coming on. (one is definitely out of nappies the other I’m not sure)

This seemed to do the trick, after a bit of a mix up by the Lammack team , Oscar seized upon the mistake and slotted the ball into the bottom corner. The team started to believe and after a George shot was fumbled in the box Matty R swiveled on the spot and poked the ball home for his first goal for the team. Jacob hit a trade mark rocket free kick to take us to 3-1.  Lammack were by no means out of the game and a  Blandy save that Robert Green could not pull off kept our healthy lead. This earned Blandy the M.O.M award and a finer save will not be seen all season.  Lammack had just enough time to score a thunderbolt strike of their own before the ref blew thewhistle.

Not pretty at times,  but well done boys.

Tom ‘Sharky’ Shorrock repeated his feat of last season by scoring five on the opening day of the season as Langho beat local neighbours Lammack at the Old Blacks.

Sharky got off to a flying start netting the first within a minute before doubling his tally with a weaving run down the left followed by a cool finish. Cal showed good movement in attack and repeatedly found positions in space and his work deserved a few more passes from his team mates. Cal’s labours were rewarded though as he pounced on a dropped shot for his second goal in two games. Tomas Lloyd also used the width of the pitch well to stretch Lammack and we should have tried to find him a little more with the ball. Despite what the score line may suggest, Lammack did launch plenty of their own attacks and Ryan and Josh, supported by Jasper, defended very well. Louis also made a fine save, diving to tip a viscous shot round the post. Another couple from Sharky sent the boys in five ahead at the interval.

Sharky sat out the beginning of the second half as we looked to the others to take on the scoring responsibilities and boy did they respond! Morgan was in a ‘Lineker’ style poaching mood and was constantly getting forward into Lammack’s area looking for any loose balls. A couple of near misses and Morgan finally got on the score sheet with a tap in, celebrating with what I think was a forward flip and half-pike turn – very acrobatic! Lloydy was next and after a pacey run down the right he cut inside before unleashing a ferocious strike from outside the area for a well-earned first goal for Langho. With all the goals going in you just knew that Jasper would want a piece of the action. Five minutes from time, Jasper scampered out of defence a struck a great shot from 15 yards giving the keeper very little chance. A fifth for Sharky and one for Lammack completed the goals for our opening fixture.

Some really good dribbling today, plus solid, determined defending and it’s nice to score a few goals too. One or two players were using the space very well, trying to stretch the opposition. The next task is to find these players with early passes – master that and we’ll see a HUGE improvement!

First of all, it’s great to be back! After a long summer break of England heartache, it was good to see the Maroons  spent the whole holiday on their Xbox’s, rather than watching those overrated prima donnas. It was a step into the unknown today, playing a Clitheroe side we have not met before. Arriving at pitch-side, we were met with a wind almost as strong as that of the Blackpool tournament, the week before.

Captain for the week, OJ, decided to kick downwind in the first half, to get an early advantage. However, this seemed to backfire early in the game, with Clitheroe playing some neat football leaving the Maroons on the back foot. Langho soon found their rhythm and created a host of chances in the first half, but could not find the back of the net. Dominic came close with a header from a corner but somehow the ball would not cross the line.

Half time 0-0

Jaffa cakes and team talk saw William come on for the injured Dominic at half time. This paid dividends shortly after the break, as a Maroon attack, allowed the ball to fall toWilliam just outside the box. He turned and fired a superb shot into the top corner, giving the keeper no chance. We had to physically stop Will’s mum from doing a pitch invasion at this point!

We then had to defend hard to prevent a Clitheroe equalizer. Sam,Liam and George were like a brick wall for the second half. If one missed, the other was there to deal with the Clitheroe threat. A true team performance.

Joseph and Oliver came off for a well deserved rest, after running their sock off all morning. Sol came into a midfield role and gave his all with some well timed tackles. Paul was determined not to lose to his “hometown team” making some superb tackles.

All in all, once again, the Maroons were a superb unit. Teamwork definitely is the answer.

Local fitness trainers, Charlotte Hopkinson of Live Pilates and John Pilkington, will be running a fitness bootcamp here at Langho FC.

The bootcamp will be held over five consecutive days – Monday 28th [...]]]> Langho FC are pleased to announce that the Under 7s age group at this year’s tournament will be sponsored by a Summer Fitness Bootcamp.

Local fitness trainers, Charlotte Hopkinson of Live Pilates and John Pilkington, will be running a fitness bootcamp here at Langho FC.

The bootcamp will be held over five consecutive days – Monday 28th June to Friday 2nd July 2010 – and will give participants an excellent opportunity to burn some serious calories and boost their all-round strength and fitness over an intense, but fun week.

The hour-long sessions will be held at 6am and 7.30pm (participants must choose one time slot for the whole week) at the outdoor training pitches at Langho FC, Dewhurst Road (off The Rydings, Longsight Road), Langho BB6 8AF.

The bootcamp is open to over-18s of all fitness levels – all exercises and drills will be scaled to individual ability, but will be challenging for everyone!
