Langho FC are pleased to announce that the Under 7s age group at this year’s tournament will be sponsored by a Summer Fitness Bootcamp.

Local fitness trainers, Charlotte Hopkinson of Live Pilates and John Pilkington, will be running a fitness bootcamp here at Langho FC.

The bootcamp will be held over five consecutive days – Monday 28th June to Friday 2nd July 2010 – and will give participants an excellent opportunity to burn some serious calories and boost their all-round strength and fitness over an intense, but fun week.

The hour-long sessions will be held at 6am and 7.30pm (participants must choose one time slot for the whole week) at the outdoor training pitches at Langho FC, Dewhurst Road (off The Rydings, Longsight Road), Langho BB6 8AF.

The bootcamp is open to over-18s of all fitness levels – all exercises and drills will be scaled to individual ability, but will be challenging for everyone!

We are all set for a fantastic weekend of football, no not Englands first match in the 2010 World Cup, Langho Juniors FC Summer Tournament!  

The event has particular significance this year in that it coincides with the first appearance of England in the 2010 World Cup.  To mark this occasion the FA have identified the 12^thJune as the official  ‘England Football Day’, our event features the under 7′s playing in the morning session and the under 9′s in the afternoon.  England play the USA, kick off time 7pm UK time, so everyone will be home in plenty of time of time to catch the match.  We hope to be celebrating a convincing England win on the 13th June when the U8′s event will feature in the morning (maybe some hangovers to contend with!) and the Under 10′s will round the event off during the afternoon.

The 2010 Tournament will take place  over the weekend of Saturday 12^th and Sunday 13^th June and is being held at the Northcote Playing Fields. Four age groups are involved, U7’s, U8’s, U9’s and U10’s. We began advertising this event  at the end of February and have had an amazing  response.   Last years event attracted 36 teams, representing 13 clubs, playing across the four age groups. This year 40 teams (full capacity) have entered the event and  there will be representation from 20 clubs.  Many clubs are returning  having enterd the 2009 tournament: Pendle Forest, Wilpshire Wanderers, Barrowford Celtic, Lammack, Great Harwood, Clitheroe Wolves, Mellor, Readstone Utd and Rishton Utd.  Other East Lancashire teams have entered for the first time: AFC Darwen, Blue Star, Darwen Rangers, Fenniscowles and Pleasington, Padiham Saints, Oswaldtwislte St Mary’s and Rossendale Valley.  In addition we have clubs from further afield attending this year, Billinge Juniors from Wigan, Egerton FC from Cheshire and Maurders Vulcans from Bury.

Last year the weather was very kind to us, the U7′s had a very ‘blustery’ Saturday morning,  the rest of the weekend was warm and dry.  More of the same please!

The Under 9 and Under 10 age groups will be played on a two-league basis with the winners and runners-up of each group going through to the semi-finals. Prizes will be awarded to the winners and runners-up in each age group. Players age limits as per the 2009/2010 season, and squad sizes must not exceed 9 players for each age group.

Entry fee: £30.00 per team, places will be allocated on a ‘first-come-first-served’ basis. Confirmation and joining instructions will be sent out directly to team managers by the end of May.
